CIA tapes? What CIA tapes?

You thought you could get away with it, didn’t you? That we’d all just turn our heads while our own government destroyed evidence of POW torture?

Well, surprise! You’ve screwed everyone over so much that they’re all coming after you now! Everyone is tired of hearing the words “White House cover-up” and “formal investigation”, and you’re not going to get away with it this time.

On second thought, you probably will. I hate to say it, but it seems as though every screw up by this administration and the CIA is somehow overlooked and forgotten about. The media will cover it to death for the next few days or weeks, and then it will disappear.

What people seem to have forgotten is that the destruction of these tapes, and obvious admissions of torture go directly against everything we should stand for as a nation. The actions of both this administration and the Central Intelligence Agency have led us down an extraordinarily dangerous path, and have further compromised our safety and reputation around the world. Torture is bad enough, but then we have to go and destroy evidence of it?!

Almost 80 years ago, we made a commitment- as a nation – to stand firmly against the act of prisoner torture. We recognized it as both immoral and unjust. But somehow, we’ve forgotten that.

We’ve forgotten that the U.S. should act as a role-model for the rest of the world. That we should stand for all things free and just. That we should quickly correct any nations that operate outside of the articles of the Geneva Convention.

Well I, for one, am sick of it. It’s disgusting to see our country fall this far from grace in such a short period of time. We evidently learned nothing from the first round of torture at Abu Gharib.

There are many out there who will continue to stand by this administration no matter what they say or do. They’ll convince themselves that high-ranking White House officials knew nothing of these actions by the CIA. They’ll come out of the woodwork to say that “water boarding is not an act of torture.”

And they’re idiots.

There’s just no better way to put it. I’m all for freedom of thought and expression, but f’ing wake up. It was cool to be a sheep for a little while, but now it’s totally lost its appeal.

All I can do is hope, that for once, members of this administration and those responsible in the CIA won’t get away so easily this time. It’s time for the American people and members of our Congress to strongly stand against these traitors. They’ve put on a guise of ‘defenders of our freedom’, but have done nothing but compromise it.

Trust me – we won’t get fooled again.

100,000 MySpace friends

Today, Ron Paul posted a MySpace bulletin announcing that he’s reached 100,000 friends on MySpace. Here’s the message he sent to his supporters:

Dear Ron Paul Supporters,
This morning, Ron Paul’s MySpace account just surpassed 100,000 active members!
Thank you for all of the support and vigorous activity for Ron Paul :)

Paul is ranked #2 in terms of total friends on MySpace. The #1 spot is taken by Barack Obama, who has an astonishing 200,000+ friends.

The Blimp is here!

The Ron Paul blimp has arrived in the great state of Maryland. It landed at Harford Airport around 6PM this evening.

They’ll be giving tours and rides for supporters and the media tomorrow morning starting at 9AM, but unfortunately, I have to work. But I know there will be a good number of Paulites out there, because I’ve been receiving Meet-Up messages about the event.

Hopefully, it’ll fly over my office.

Perry Kucinich

Dennis Kucinich’s younger brother, Perry Kucinich, passed away in his home today (Wednesday, 12/19). His older brother, Larry, found him this morning at 9 a.m.

It’s very upsetting news, and my thoughts go out to Mr. Kucinich and his family.

I’m confident that this news only makes Mr. Kucinich stronger as he heads into Iowa.

You can read the full article here. And you can read more about Perry here.

The Christmas Bomb – Ron Paul’s next money bomb

I’m officially calling for it. A Ron Paul “money bomb” on this December 25, 2007. Christmas day.

With the success of yesterday’s (December 16th) bomb, I’d like to see history repeat itself before the end of the 4th quarter. And I can’t think of a better day than Christmas.

I’ve never actually started a “money bomb” before, so I’m not sure exactly how to go about it. But I’m just throwing it out there and making it OFFICIAL. So, let’s do it.

If everyone just takes 5 minutes away from their friends and family to donate $25, then we’ll be set. Or what better gift to give than a Ron Paul t-shirt? Remember, purchases in the Ron Paul store count as campaign donations.

News spread like wildfire about yesterday’s bomb, so let’s make it happen again. Iowa and New Hampshire will be blown away by the support that Ron Paul’s grassroots supporters put behind their candidate on Christmas day – of all days!

So here’s what I’m asking you to do….Digg, Stumble, del.icio.us, Propeller, Mixx, Reddit this entry; tell your friends about the Christmas bomb; post bulletins to your MySpace and Facebook; make a YouTube video about it; write a Ron Paul Christmas carol. Do whatever you have to do to get the word out, and let me know about it.

Let everyone know about what a success yesterday was, and that we’re ready, willing and able to do it again. Hopefully everyone will pick up on this idea in time, and we’ll have another day like this December 16th.

You can grab a thumbnail of Santa Paul for your MySpace and Facebook here: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii267/paulandkucinich/santapaul-1.jpg

Ho Ho Ho.

$18 million…no problem.

Ron Paul just broke the $18 million mark.

I desperately need to go to bed, but I can’t stop watching the counter.

This is my last post of the night.  It’ll be interesting to see how much more money trickles in overnight.

Ron Paul passes $18 million for Q4!

In just one day, Ron Paul has managed to raise somewhere around $6 million dollars, far exceeding any of previous records for one day campaign fund raising.

It’s 12:05 PM EST, and the donation counter on the official Ron Paul website reads $17,912,712.92.

Now THATS a Tea Party. Congratulations everyone.

You can click here watch the numbers in real time, and to look at a bunch of charts. It’s pretty addicting.

EDIT: It appears as though the Ron Paul bulletins on MySpace have been removed. I’m not quite sure what happened, but they were releasing them every 10 minutes or so, asking people to donate. Kinda weird.

Richie Rich

We just broke the $16 million mark. UNBELIEVABLE.We started the day around $11.5 million, and have raised over $4 million in under the 24 hour period.

Paul’s supporters have really come through this time, turning this into a money nuclear explosion.

We still have 4 hours to go. I’m updating my guess of how much will be raised (since my $16 mill has already been exceeded), to be $17 million total.

Can you even imagine how much the Paul camp will be able to do with $17 million?! Think of how many radio and TV buys they’ll be able to purchase? How much publicity he’ll pull in for raising an absolutely obscene amount in one day?

I’m stoked.

$15 million

We just hit the $15 million donation mark.

$16 million by midnight shouldn’t be a problem.  We’re pulling in a good $3-5k every minute or so.  It’s really a beautiful day for liberty.
